Million-Year-Old Joys

A labradorite palm stone with a heart shaped flash.

Sometimes nature provides the simplest joys.

I’ve been busily photographing stones this month, and one in particular caught my eye.

This little Labradorite has a blue flash that looks like a heart. (It might be a stretch, but my brain sees a heart!) It caught me off guard and pulled me out of my monotonous routine.

Little moments like this warm my soul. Sometimes we don’t even have to go out of our way to find those simple joys—sometimes they’re right in front of us, waiting to be discovered. In this case, this one has been waiting for millions of years!

Just thought I’d share this with you and pass along this moment. I hope you’re having a great day! 🍂

I also see a heart (so I don’t think it’s a stretch). This might even be something you could write more about, could be a key to a story or stories (especially since it’s been around for a long time). Pretty awesome find and with lots of potential.

Oh I like the way you think! I’ve debated sharing facts/photos of the funky specimen I come across, but they sure would make good subjects for stories! I haven’t thought of short stories until now, hmmm…!

I am weaving crystals/rocks into the novel I’m working on, and I was thinking of having a specific type as a “key” of sorts—you’re on to me, ha! Just trying to decide which specific type to use 😁

I love stones, I studied them for one of my classes in university and learnt so much! And that one is particularly beautiful. That colour is gorgeous!
