I drift and I dream
and conjure fond memories
of pink and sweet pine
A little bit about life:
From blowing a tire on a busy construction-impaired highway to celebrating four close family member birthdays, the past few weeks has kept me on my toes! But each morning, I’ve had one simple springtime joy to remind me to slow down—the blooms outside my window.
For just a few days each spring, white and pink blossoms are everywhere. The petals fall like rain and it’s a site that feels just as magical as a gentle snowfall. I always look forward to this time of year and managed to snap a few photos before the petals dropped. (They don’t last long!)
I particularly love the contrast between the sharp, green needles of our yew bush against these bright pink petals (I’m not sure what this tree is called!). I felt inspired and tried my hand at a haiku (the first I’ve written since college, ha!). I enjoyed taking the time to pause, think, and consciously write something with care. Usually I’m a stream-of-conscious type of writer, but will definitely write more structured poems in the future!
Anyways, I have updates on some of my projects coming up, including paintings and the book. But for now, I hope you’re having a lovely spring!
Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
Sam 🌷

May 15, 2023 at 11:52 amThe pictures are lovely. I always say I want to go to DC when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, it does look magical. Excited to hear how painting and the book are going. I had a flat tire this morning. Adulthood, you know? Hope overall you are well as well as busy.
