Tiny Truths…
Here are a few tiny reminders for you, from the restroom walls of my local coffee shop. These small words hit home as I sipped a big ‘ol mocha and read George R. R. Martin’s “A Storm of Swords” to the rumble of passing trains. I hope they offer you a touch of inspiration as well!
… and Pumpkin Scones
Later, I toyed with old ideas that have become more burdensome than inspiring. I needed to get out of my head, so I made for the kitchen. Baking grounds me; I open the cupboards and I’m reminded of my mom and our old counters, forever cluttered with glorious baked goods.
Today I chose to try a pumpkin scone recipe from my favorite baker John Kanell, of Preppy Kitchen. I first stumbled across John’s YouTube channel when his videos soothed my toddler. A few years later, Preppy Kitchen is still the first (and usually only) website I consult for new recipes.
Here’s the recipe for the pumpkin scones I made today. I added chocolate chunks and purposefully spilled extra cinnamon into the batter, and they’re wonderful—an instant 10/10 staple! If you ever give them a go, first tell John Kanell (he deserves the credit), and then tell me! I could talk pastries and dough all evening.

That’s all, folks.
This post is short and sweet and patchwork today, but I kind of like it. Lately I’m aiming for a little less structure and a touch more impulsiveness. So as always, I hope you’re enjoying your week! Until next time…
